About the Project
Khabat Thermal Power Plant is a two-unit (Units 1&2) thermal power plant in the Erbil region of Iraq; Bazyan 400 kV Substation transfers the generated power to the transmission grid. Bend Yapı Company undertook and completed the construction works of the plant’s auxiliary structures for the client GAMA Power Systems Inc.
Scope of Work
- Absorber Pump Room 1&2 (absorber pump rooms for Units 1 and 2)
- FGD Control Building (flue gas desulfurization control building)
- Pipe Rack foundations and structural works
- Waste Water Treatment Pond
Auxiliary Structures in Thermal Power Plants
The FGD (Flue Gas Desulfurization) system reduces emissions by capturing sulfur dioxide in the flue gas; the Absorber Pump Room houses this system’s circulation pumps. Pipe Rack structures carry the process lines within the plant above ground, while the Waste Water Treatment Pond allows water leaving the facility to be treated before discharge.
