About the Project
Erbil Rehabilitation Sports Hall is a public sports building constructed as an addition to the Erbil Rehabilitation Center project. The hall’s roof was built entirely as a reinforced concrete vault.
For the clients Nursoy İnşaat Taahhüt A.Ş. and Brilliant Role Group, Bend Yapı Company undertook the formwork, reinforcement and concrete workmanship of all reinforced concrete structures of the project. The contract was based on FIDIC conditions, and the work was completed between 2012 and 2013 to a quality above international construction standards.
Scope of Work
- Formwork, reinforcement and concrete workmanship of the sports hall’s reinforced concrete structures
- Construction of the reinforced concrete vaulted roof with scaffolding and curved formwork
- Building works integrated with the rehabilitation center campus
Reinforced Concrete Vault
Casting a wide-span vault in reinforced concrete requires the curved formwork to be set up at the correct geometry on load-bearing scaffolding, the reinforcement to be placed to follow the curved surface, and the concrete to be poured without interruption. This approach gives the hall a durable roof with low maintenance needs.
The sports hall was built as part of the Erbil Rehabilitation Center contract; its value is included in that contract.
